They wanted the other brake fixed.
This actually makes you go faster, by whipping you as you ride.
This tire is somewhat worn.
Ok, on some bikes you can get away with this, buuuut...
Some people attach their seatbags in very unorthodox ways.
Like I was saying just now... but you have to give them credit for using the Seat Cleat to mount a taillight.
This is the most common variant of "I Did It My Way" seatbag attachment.
And some people don't clean their drivetrain very often! They probably don't even know that their cat doesn't naturally have black stripes.
Nails. They're awesome.
They can also serve as seatpost shims.

Schrader tube, Presta rim? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. (they did likewise with the front wheel, but used duct tape all the way around the tire AND RIM, crossing the brake tracks, to keep the tube from slapping on the fork blade).
This bike is giving that other one a run for its money. Note how the sides of the chain are a smooth slab of grease.
An endurance racer's bottom bracket shell. It leads a tough life.
Random pizza-photo attack!!!

Nice Schwinn.
Love the crossed cables Miyata.
Cottered pedal, never thought I'd see that one.

I'm liking the valve-stem punched through the sidewall. That's a classic.

I imagine that some of these "things" are due to careless riders/owners.
I suppose, however, that not everyone can afford to keep their bikes in top mechanical shape. I have seen many bikes owned and used by the homeless...the bikes are held together by bailing wire, duct tape and the grace of God.
I wouldn't post pics here to make fun of them. Just saying!

I wonder why they were in the shop to begin with. With all of that creativity, there is no way that the bodger who did that fine work would bring the bike in. It's obvious that either those bikes were sold to or stolen by the new, less creative owners.

Cute girl came to get her oil changed and to check this "slight" grinding coming from her brakes.. she didn't fix it and had to sign a wavier releasing stupidity
Here's another:

This is the worst rotor I've ever seen. Not only is it worn through to the center of the casting where the ventilation slots are, the disc is separated from the hub part of the rotor. 1988 NA 740 with ABS
It's supposed to look like this. Yes, they wore right through the disk to the center cooling fins.

All you had to do was fill in the gaps with layers of JB Weld then smooth...worked for me.

DUDE, seatbags are the worst, I do not get what it is with people and seatbags but they simply can not figure the things out. Nearly everyone that comes through is wrong.
We had a good one today, a girl brought her bike it, wasn't shifting down well and was telling us about how she played with the barrel adjuster and could not get it right, Jon threw it in the stand "Your cable is too tight", she followed that with "I don't know how, I haven't even messed with it" I am glad I was not the one dealing with her because I would have felt obligated to call her on it.

Picked up a nice Trek that the former owner did not understand how a seat post clamp worked:

How in the heck did these folks not realize that there was a problem? There had to have been a big noise when the one side of the disk finally disintegrated and then I bet the brakes both felt and sounded pretty bad.
Also, assuming that the vehicle was from one of the states that have annual inspections, how did it pass?
