Both front and rear spacing on some Fat bikes is 135mm so that you can swap the front and back wheel in case the freewheel fails or freezes up. Fat bikes were originally designed for expeditions or racing in frozen remote areas. IDITA bike and such. Being able to swap wheels increased your chances of riding vs walking.

The trailer will hold big bags, like Surly Dummy bags, ones from Xtracycle, etc.
The wheel in the trailer has a brake because it's another spare wheel for the bike.
The bike and trailer lean together.
