Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What I need - ANT+ and bluetooth compatibility for devices, ideally auto-upload through an app to Strava for outdoor rides. I don't really use any fancy map or route features at all, Strava live etc. Must have a lap button . So really simple, ideally a couple hundred bucks.
That sounds a lot like a Wahoo Bolt to me. My V1 pairs flawlessly with my iPhone, auto uploads pretty much instantly. Lap button is one of the big three on the face.

My 4D wide shoes are suddenly too tight. When I bought them I knew I needed wider, but unobtanium in Mexico, the land of the little people. With thin socks I could wear themfor a few years. No more. I’m gonna try my closed toe Tevas with wool socks and see how that works.

Damn, I only have Torx down to t10, guess I'll have to avoid Garmin HRMs. The last HRM I had you used a quarter to open the battery hatch.

My Garmin 830 has been working flawlessly since I bought it. Paired with iPhone, auto-uploads to Garmin Connect, then to Strava.

Downside: the cost.

Agreed -- long climbs on the trainer are so much harder than the real thing. I recently did Ventoux on Rouvy, and it wrecked me. I'll do similar length climbs IRL, and they are not nearly as exhausting.

I've been to a few car shows and they can be fun and interesting. Went to one that had a chili cook-off and we ate a lot of chili that day.

Went to a custom car show at the L.A. Convention Center years ago. Huge turnout. That was a fun day.

Also, the Nethercutt Museum is a few miles from here. A friend's father worked there as a mechanic for years.

Bad crash on today’s ride. It was on a reasonably fast downhill with tight turns. I was off the back (as I am a wussy descender) and did not see actual crash but my friend apparently overcooked a turn and wiped out hitting the guardrail. We called 911 and waited for about 10 minutes for the ambulance.

I don’t think he lost consciousness but was clearly dazed for a few minutes. Luckily it was not life threatening. He has a concussion and an open wrist fracture. They are keeping him at the hospital overnight for surgery tomorrow, with fingers crossed he comes home tomorrow.

Riding is great, but crashing sucks.

yikes, sorry to hear that datlas, hope your friend didn't whack is noggin' too hard and that the wrist heals completely. I too am a wussy descender. Fortunately, descending bravely is almost never selective in the available road races in the southwest US.

UAE Team Emirates rider (Brandon McNulty) takes over as race leader after late attack. Happy to see Zonie Brandon back in yellow!!!! Rode a break with very elevated company included Evenepoel, Roglic, Plapp and Jorgensen. Hopefully he sticks it!

I have never understood the need for a fast descent, or a fast anything for that matter, on a bike. Well wishes
