1980s Bianchi Specialissima SL, full campy super record

Hey Guys, here's my newest craigslist acquisition that I'm planning on flipping. I was hoping to find a little more information on its model year and what the general value would be after a very thorough cleaning. It looks like the only thing on there that's not original is the seat post. No dents or dings to speak of but a good amount of surface rust on some of the components. Also it's a 59 ST 57 TT frame, I know that's on the tall side so not sure how it will effect the value. Anyway, less talk and more pictures. Let me know what you think.

nice Bianchi. a flipper eh? we should chat. the value for these is all over the place. I saw a '88CdI for sale in WIs. this morning that while in good shape will never sell for $900. this bike could sell for quite a bit however you need to wait for the correct buyer. are you sure of the size center to top? that will also tale lots of cleaning.

is there a date on the RD? the embellishments on the frame make it appear to be a '86-87 with those decals but the model and Columbus decals look older. plus I don't pump pegs came along until the '87s. it could be an after thought because nothing in the '87 catalog had a full SR group.

Careful with the use of the term "full Super Record." That usually means Ti bottom bracket and pedals, vs. the more usual "Super Record reduced" group, which most "Super Record" equipped bikes got. Unless, of course, it does have the desirable Ti bits. Oh, and that's not a Super Record seatpost.

I see a fair amount of rust on components, and the bike needs a thorough cleanup. Needs tires, cables, bearings and grease.

It would sell as a project right now, at a hefty discount.

Would really have to see pics after the cleanup before guessing a value.

alot of people here will cringe when I say this but, what I would do with that is take it to the carwash and spray it down real good with simple green and scrub it wit a brush. then hose her down. I guess if you have a hose outside you could just use that but I don't.

for tires just buy the Yellow Jersey "pair and spare" tubulars, mount two and put the third under the seat.

i think its great. a nice "detailing" will do the job. not sure about the corrosion on the chain stays. i dont think that would polish up to its former glory. by the way....what is the difference between a specialissimo and a super leggera? just the same bike but different names?? i alway get those mixed up. is one more desirable than the other?

I am not sure what makes the this a Specialissimo SL perhaps it has the afore mentioned Ti bits in the SR group. the difference between the Specialissimo and a Supper Leggera can be a few components. it seems most times there is a Supper Leggera as the top model and no Specialissimo sometimes there are both and Specialissimo is top model.
