Bicyclist Shot in Sunset Beach
I normally wouldn't post something like this but this is one of the 2 guys I regularly ride with. I guess it happened on Monday. I just sent him a ride request on Wednesday letting him know if the rain clears up we need to get out there and this morning he emailed me back with this news. He's going to be OK and it appears that no vital organs were hit.

It appears from his email that he's going to be ok. This guy is an avid rider and probably does 7000+ miles a year.

Just a case of being in the wrong place at the right time. There are some homeless folks (some a little crazy and/or drugged-up) that live around that end of Sunset Beach (where PCH meets Warner Ave), but the County and HB have been getting a lot of them moved out of the area and into rehab or re-entry programs. I've been riding through there for many years and find it to be quite safe, and I'll continue to ride through there. . Sunset Beach is an odd mix of wealthy homes and dirt-poor folks. As always, just be aware of your surroundings (people, cars, road conditions) where ever you are and you'll be fine.

Random unpredictable violence.
Glad your friend was not more seriously injured and wish him a speedy recovery.

He was riding with his wife and I can only imagine what was going through her head as all this was unraveling. And yes, he was very lucky. It looks like the guy fired 3 shots and only 1 hit my friend.

Damn, I hope your friend is recovering. Any word on what, if anything prompted the shooting? I've ridden through there many times.

It was just some random crazy homeless guy with a gun. He's doing better and actually up and riding again.
