VeloCals Issues?
Hi folks,
Has anyone else had an issue with VeloCals long lead times & lack of response? At the end of December I place an order for a decal set for my Eisenstraut Limited. The next day they changed my card & replied that my order was in the production queue with a lead time of 3-4 weeks. After 3 weeks & no updates, I sent a message requesting an update. Another week has passed & nothing from them. I ordered another set from H. Lloyd in the UK & got them in 10 days. Is VeloCals really that back logged?

I’ve had two orders this year. The first in July/August was really quick. The second in October or November took about 6 weeks. Luckily I wasn’t in a hurry on the second order so it didn’t impact a build.

I had an order in mid December. Let over a month go and then emailed them about the status of it (I was quite annoyed that it was taking so long, but sent a courteous email). They got back to me in a day or so saying it was set to be made that day after getting through considerable backlog over the holidays. It was just one decal, but they got it done and out to me. Received it yesterday. On the bike (620) today. Now it's complete.

Took about a month to get my Torpado set from the USA to Canada. Usually, I can expect ten days to two full weeks for stuff to arrive. And, for what it is worth, the decals went on yesterday (six more hours until I can remove the protective application mask...

I do hope that I did not leave it on too long. Put on wet, the stickers did move a bit provided that I did not apply pressure. The decal manufacturer suggested that, being put on wet, it would take about 24 hours for the decal adhesive to properly stick. Pretty soon, I will attempt to remove the transfer tape. Again, fingers crossed.
I might add that the squeegeed the heck out of the stickers and transfer tape when I was installing. I did my best to push out any bubbles and took great care to apply lots of pressure as I pressed the stickers to the surface. I looked carefully at edges, hoping to ensure that no lifting or curling occurred.

Okay, they are wet/water transfers. That makes sense now. I've never done much with those.
I was thinking more of sticky vinyl decals where the transfer tape is removed right away.

You just need to be patient, I have gotten Cyclomondo decals from Australia faster than Velocals.

Applying vinyl stickers with a soapy water solution is also a good strategy, as it lets you move them around a bit, and it's easier to get the bubbles out. I learnt to do that when applying race numbers to my car.

Velocals are a great product but the shipping and response time will vary. I even made a thread about it 6mo+ ago. One of many.

Is the application mask the same as transfer tape? If so, I never thought about leaving that on for awhile till they set.

Basically, the application mask (stupid name I came up with) is likely transfer tape. When I did remove it I was glad that I had followed Velocals advice. That transfer tape is sticky and, had the stickers not adhered well, they might have lifted. Anyway, this traumatic task is done...

One thinknis true on this forum- if its a day that ends in Y, velocals is slow to produce and ship.

I put an order in Friday for a set of Serotta decals and just received an email saying that they’ve already shipped. Maybe they just have a very limited inventory and have to make most decals on order.

I just wanted to drop a kudos to these guys. They have helped me out on two recent Trek 720 chainstay guards and the second time I ordered wrong but they worked with me to correct it. Great customer service!
