Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you find yourself in Yachats or Seal Rock stop in to Luna Sea for a good meal. Yachats is the original, Seal Rock is nicer. Both have great food.

They picked out a dog.

The owners say he liked it. They're probably just full of it, like most dog owners.

Race went pretty well. Surprised myself. In the beginning I felt like I was struggling, eventually I found my footing. Broke away a couple of times, attacked when I could. With 4 laps to go the team somehow managed to get all together at the front. I pulled 2 laps heading into the last lap, but had nothing left to give. Didn’t finish well, but was able to get my team mate into a really good position.

Another team mate snapped the fork of his madone. His fork is now 4 pieces.

Do what your heart tells you but remember that I’m an old man and don’t have that many victories left in my life but it’s your call.

Sorry to hear. Sending positive thoughts. Vitamin D, Calcium and weight training to strengthen the bones. You probably already know this. I think some cancer treatments cause low bone density.

On a related note, the cancer centre sent me a bill for $3.42.

That was an old Madone anyway. Time for an upgrade.

Or, fortunately Trek sells replacement forks for about $400.

Damn that sucks. Cancer treatments don't do your bones any favors, that's for sure!

This forum (not this one, but the one posted below) is absolutely hilarious. Apparently people don’t take themselves seriously and have fantastic time. And no arguments or put-downs on this thread - what’s with that?

Thought my wife was going to side with me, but as I started suiting up she asked me what the hell I was doing. I explained I deserved one podium today, she said after she gets a vacation.

It warmed up and I got out for a nice ride. Gotta work for 1900 feet when the highest point in Queens is 263'. 😉
