wow, red marble.
Tommasini was famous for their proprietary marble-esque paint jobs in that era.
Said it was a trade secret.
Yet, that same year, I was running around with my "How to Faux Marble" book and painting peoples house columns for college money.

Wow super nice. My wife used to have a bike that look exactly like that. Sold it to a guy in NYC.

Unfortunately in this particular case, given the photo, it looks like horrid scratching. I can't imagine doing this. It just looks bad and damaged. There are plenty of photos of gaudy Tommasinis with far more competent looking paint.

Not at all. It looks like red scratched through to a white undercoating all over. Yes! I am
looking at the photos you provided, and my eyes are fine. Maybe a beautiful execution, but an awful idea. If I were painting a bike, I wouldn't want to make it look as if it had been keyed by vandals.

That doesn't change my mind that all the thin uneven white lines look like scratching (whether they are or not) rather than marble. Can you just not simply accept that I think it's a nasty finish rather than quality painting? There are many very nice, though often somewhat gaudy, Tommasini examples. I find this one a bit repulsive; the finish looks damaged whether it is or not.

I love it - and the flawless paint on the bottom of the shell definitely speaks to seriously-low miles.
Out of curiosity: did this come from Texas? I looked at what could've been its twin (near Round Rock) back in 2018 or so - right down to the Shimano 600 components. More of a 'curiosity' look as I was in the area visiting relatives. That one was pristine, too.
Nice score! I'm certain you'll have no trouble at all enjoying that beautiful acquisition

One thing I am trying to remember is which of the big catalogs had a couple of Tommasini frames for sale back in the late eighties or early nineties. Any clues?
Sadly, I have next to none of that stuff around any more.

Did CC offer a couple of T'sini frames? I seem to remember there was a light silver one with a run of overlapping colored circles on the front of the top tube. I do remember that they had a couple of two-tone fade house bikes done by Mark Nobilette for a while.

Gorgeous bike. I remember back in the day Bill Lewis was the importer for Tommasini, Picchio, and Zullo among others and I lustered after one of these marblized finished frames. I have a steel Quattro Assi frame made by Tommasini and I am going to have a marblized finish applied.
