Aero Bars
Does anyone ride with aero bars on the trainer? I do because i have but one bike so there is a lot of on again/off again. i occasionally use the bars while on the trainer and notice that i cannot stay on them for nearly as long as on a real ride. maybe tehe effort is less in the real world but don't have a power meter to know for sure.

Same here. I only get down on them when I'm at active recovery, or occasionally on longer Z2 efforts, but whenever I need to lay down some decent amount of power I get back up onto the hoods or drops.

I have my time trial bike on the trainer, so yes.
I do spend a fair bit of time upright unless the aim is time in the TT position. Definitely can't spend as long down on the extensions while on the turbo as I can outside. I think it's the added lack of moving around, being fixed in place that does it. The discomfort builds up quicker and I need to take mini breaks by sitting up. I can't push as much power tucked down either. It's just the way it is I guess.

The trainerroad coaches try to get people to use their aero bars. It's a good idea, you train different muscles in different positions. If it's harder to ride the aerobars indoors, it it possible you need to raise the front of the bike?
