What are YOU grateful for?
It's Turkey Day here in the US of A. I finally realized yesterday that the 1995 Stumpjumper M2 FS frame i bought for a pittance last year was designed for a modest front shock, in the 50-60mm range and according to the Internets, if I use the 100mm shock I bought I will create a Harley chopper-like bike that will flip me backwards on even a modest hill. Who knew that a 100mm shock was a downhill shock in 1995? Go figure. ANYWAYS, I'm grateful that I can get on a bike at all. I'm grateful for the $40 Trek 660 I found. I have had several enjoyable evenings working on it and several mellow afternoon rides on it. I'm gratefull for the Vittoria Voyager Hyper 38mm tires on my commuter (1980's Novara X-R hybrid). They roll like a dream. I'm grateful for the $20 1985 Fuji Sagres Mixte I found a few weeks ago. I have had a hankering for a mixte, don't ask me why. I'm looking forward to working on it. Actually, I'm grateful for a lot of things I won't list here.

I'm grateful for the C&V forum here. Over the last year I've had some pretty negative things happen in my life, and I found myself turning to riding my bike a lot more, which lead to me starting to wrench on my bike, which lead me to bikeforums.net. Eventually, after some not-so-welcoming interactions on other sub-forums, I found this crowd, and started to drink the vintage steel Kool-Aid. Mmmmm, it's refreshing! This has become one of my zen places, along with everything that goes with vintage bikes.
So thanks to all the regulars here, you're an awesome group.

She likes the training the way we like cycling.
Her first tournament was 10 lb over her weight class because of 2 lb/wk weight loss rule.
She took 1st against a girl (over her weight class) who placed in state last year. This week, she also dominated her top regional competitor with 2nd round fall.
Last year she made mistakes and never the same one twice. This year, focus, condition, drive is second to her skills.
It's a lot of fun.

Today? The car starting this morning, after a serious hey-I-don't-recognize-that-ignition-key issue last night; two young cats coming back from the vet in one piece after having been 'helped'; a nice personal message from a fellow C&V member about some old bikes; mrs non-fixie passing an important test. Today was a pretty good day, gratitude-wise.

I'm grateful to have found a hobby that is healthy and gets me outside enjoying nature. I'm grateful for the knowledge I've been gleaning from lurking (mostly) in this subforum. I'm grateful for the hard work in other areas of my life that are finally starting to yield some results. I am grateful for so many things right now but as others have stated family is so important to me. My mom, brothers, wife, toddler daughter and soon to arrive baby make every day a joy. I am thankful that I had a wonderful father for 28 years and wish he could celebrate with us. Also cycling and C&V has brought a whole new dimension of enjoyment to my life. Thank you all!
