One of the three faster times was from an athlete in the Men's 60+ age division..... Wow. What a specimen. I know I have a ways to go as far as optimizing my equipment and position goes in time trial, but still, getting beaten by an old dude is very humbling! 60+ counts as old to you guys, right?

Here's my empirical observations so far, as a former elite and newbie masters racer:
35+: The good guys can still compete in P/1/2
45+ The good guys are just as good as the top 35+ guys
55+: OK the herd is starting to thin, but there are still guys who can hang in elite
60+: This takes some serious genetic talent. But, there are still guys out there who can hang with the open/elite guys. I am quite impressed when I see this, given how infrequent it is. But they're out there!
Of course, the difference between a top master's athlete (even at 35) and a top Pro is appreciable. Also - maybe there are more 60/65+ guys who can ride elite in other areas, just around here not a ton. And this is a deep talent pool (SCNCA).
Hopefully I can get another decade of being one of the good guys who are fighting to get up the road in the break. Or maybe two decades!!!

When I rode this morning I went by the model airport. There was a man at the gate looking like he was going to come in to fly but he asked me if anyone was flying. Nope. Too windy, he said and told me his wife didn't want him flying alone. He mentioned this 3 times while we were talking but I didn't ask why. Maybe because it's somewhat isolated, idk.
Anyway I suspect he just wanted someone to talk to and he went on for quite a while but did let me talk a little, too. These chats I have while cruising the neighborhood are pretty cool.

Not yet. They keep moving the timing of the storm. Was supposed to start raining last night. I rode around for a couple hours and it got pretty dark but didn't drip on me.
edit, I actually live in the NE corner of the San Fernando Valley, so it could be raining in L.A. for all I know.

I posted this once before but many, many years ago, It was near 100º and I wasn't in the mood for a long ride so I took my trike to the trail to just turn my legs a little. I rode 12 miles and was gone a couple hours. I no longer remember all of the details but I do remember an ice cream shop, a coffee stop, petting some dogs, talking to a couple very old gentleman, letting a young person sit on my trike and schmoozing a couple old ladies.
