For several years now, perhaps more than several, this bike has been offered for sale or auction. I am not sure why it sticks in my mind, but it does and got me to wondering if any other long offered items come to mind with other forum members. The bike in question looks to be close to mint and I cannot understand why it has not been purchased. Anyway, this is the bike and your thoughts would be interesting to an old fellow like myself...

Entry level bike from a less recognized brand. Would need to be priced very low in my market to sell. It takes more than being vintage. People tend to be looking for the better stuff which this is not.

Despite the "Italian" sounding name, this is a made in Japan bike. Stem shifters, steel chain rings, etc.

A bike like this has to be sold locally, as the cost to ship will exceed the value of the bike. Air up the tires, swap out the seat, take great pictures, and it might bring $75 locally.

I've been watching this one for the last 6 months, reposted every two weeks. It's the only ad up by the user, so not part of a bigger stash of parts they're trying to unload. I'm really tempted to buy it, if only to meet the legend.

I too would assume that it may be the initial bidding price and if it was a local pickup only. Those two things would require the right person to maybe looking for it and for all the stars to align.

There was a Takara Deluxe Touring on eBay just like the one I had in high school for quite a long time. The opening bid and buy it now prices were not so terrible that I probably wouldn't have paid it, but I wasn't willing to drive to Topeka for it and shipping even if available would have been more than the bike was worth. I don't know if it finally sold or if the seller gave up on someone feeling nostalgic enough like me to pay that price for a high tensile bike boom bike and be willing to go the trouble to get it home. Long story short, had it been within an hour drive from my house I would have probably bought it like I have for a couple of other old Takaras that were more local to me.

I'm not sure of the current ebay fee structure but at the time I looked at the listing the seller had 94 items listed including a couple of other bicycles. Is there a flat rate for an ebay store?

Perhaps he just keeps relisting everything for a certain price?

If the $69 minimum bid snagged it and even with $90 shipping,
my take is you could do worse for $159
especially if you were a casual cyclist and it fit you.

If the buyer were near Plymouth, Wisconsin where it shows to be located to pick up locally it might be considered a bargain if $69 took it.

Then again perhaps he has a minimum price much higher but I did not see one.

For my preferences if it fit I'd rather ride that bike than some of the mega store mart type bikes I've seen.

The Saint Tropaze I showed has been relisted many times over several years. I am not positive but the first time it was listed at approximately $250 US, a price I thought to be way too high at the time. With subsequent relistings the price came down to less than a hundred dollars now.

I agree with many comments regarding the saddle and where picture was taken. My guess is that it will never sell as it has been offered for so long and, apparently, attracted little interest.

My main concern was not the bike but the fact that it has been offered for a long time. Thanks to the folks who mentioned other long haulers on Ebay. That is what I was most interested in.

This is the one that came to mind for me, I have a similar Stumpjumper, not as mint, but still, so this one caught my eye back in the day. I can't imagine listing something for this long without dropping the price or even just deciding not to sell.

I've had the same random stuff listed on Craigs for probably two years. It's all in one listing now. It used to be two. I sold a bunch of stuff recently, but only the nicer parts that had the word "Campagnolo" on them. I don't mind the requirement to update the listing once a week. It's nice to have a small presence on Craigs. I meet some good folks into the same vintage vibe.

The original Specialized Tarmacs were oddly half carbon fiber and half aluminum, split horizontally, so that half of the had tube is carbon fiber, and half aluminum. There is a guy in my town who has been trying to sell one for over $2000 on CL for AT LEAST 4 years. Looks mint. He just keeps reposting. I always imagine a guy being yelled out by his wife for spending thousands on a bike he never rode.
