Gotta watch for loose rocks when descending these roads. A few months back 2 guys flatted on sharp rocks but both remained upright. A few years ago a friend fell after hitting a rock and got hurt. Luckily the roads were mostly just wet and sandy in spots.

years ago ran over a brick laying on the road descending a small hill at dusk just a few miles from the lot where I was parked

blew out front tire - miraculously did not crash

shook the entire walk back

Is that Big Tujunga?

Good advice on the rocks. I’ve had some nasty experiences. 🙄

Sand Canyon, the north side of Little Tujunga. Yes, I remember your story with the rock. The guy I was referring to was Lee, don't know if you know him. He moved to Colorado.

I hit a sharp rock that was hiding in the shade of a bush while descending on Angeles Crest. I heard the tire blow out but I wasn't sure which one it was so I didn't know which brake I could jam on. I wasn't going very fast and I was lucky to get things stopped. Turned out it was both tires. frack

Another Mt Hamilton in the books, that makes twice this week.

That seems about the right number. Gorgeous day.

Beautiful. Mammoth Mountain and the Minarets, from where did you take that shot?

I recognize the Minarets from an October hike I did on the Minarets Vista Trail:

Oh, the simple pleasures of life, so important to recognize, so easy for me to miss. My moment of the day for 2/27. The daffodils have burst through to the sun again.

Sign of spring

Nice. Our daffodils are just about done for the year. Time to deadhead our blooms.

On Benton Crossing Road very near to Watterson Divide. If you've done the Mammoth Gran Fondo, it's the hill just before you descend down into the Long Valley and back to Mammoth. It's probably my favorite place for pix because it gives you some space away from the Sierra, and from there, you can get a telephoto perspective. It also gets some great photo weather. Behind you are the White Mountains. In the morning, they often have clouds nearby and the rising sun shining through those clouds can make for some beautiful shadowing. Ditto taking pictures from the Long Valley looking west at sundown. The clouds over the Sierra cast shadows on the whites that can be quite beautiful. Check this one out. This is looking in the other direction.

There are only a few days in each lunar cycle where you can get a pix of the moon in a landscape without a wildly impossible exposure.

Thanks! The equipment I use is really nothing special, though. Mostly, just very good pocket cameras. It is amazing how well they can do, especially with the kind of subject matter you get in the Eastern Sierra. I really think it is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
