Show us your rough/neglected bikes!
I'll start with this Bottecchia Professional. Recent pickup, probably the most higher end rough/neglected bike I've ever found.

1960 Capo Sieger -- perennial project bike
I am still looking to find time to put this one back on the road. It has a full double-butted 531 frame, enjoyable "sports touring" geometry, and original Campag. high-flange hubs and Gran Sport derailleurs. I have obtained replacement shift levers, courtesy of one of our C&Vers.
I rode one of these through most of the 1970s, until the front of the bent and repaired frame's downtube developed a crack just behind the butting, and it was delightful.

OK...just had one...and it was a beauty...bought it really cheap...and had some fun with it...yeah, right! But...believe it or not, everything came off...no stuck seat post or stem...but...one unique thingie....the chain had totally rusted to the crankset...I am still seeing if I can separate the two...the chain was rusted solid...one big solid piece of rusted steel!
After getting everything off of it...the frame actually looks pretty good!

I've posted this before, but when I got this Le Tour, it was the dirtiest bike I'd ever put my hands on. It had been sitting on a dirt floor shed for over 20 years.

I originally found this one at a yard sale and paid $24 for it at the request of a neighbor who wanted "a nice little bike to ride in the neighborhood." The bike was about 20 years old at the time and was in as-new condition. I hated to give it up (especially for that price) but she wanted it. Fast forward several years during which it was parked (probably never ridden, I'd put money on it) against a fence in her back yard. She gave it to me so I dug it out of a snowbank and brought it home where it awaits a redo so my bride can ride it in the neighborhood.

This one must have been left outside for a spell unfortunately.
The frame will need major refurbishment, probably including chrome on the fork, unless you just paint all.
The components are also looking pretty sad.
I don't think it will get a bid, well maybe for a guy who just gots to have a twin plate crown Masi, no way will it go for the buy it now of $1,500.
The fork looks bent but it was probably raked by Faliero, he would love to bend the brazen up and straight legged forks over the bending fixture and then crank a bit more rake in via the crown.
So, if you want a frame touched by the tailor...

Do you think a little rubbing compound will bring the paint back?.....don't know what to do about the saddle either, leather rejuvenator?

COOL! It looks pretty cruddy now, but as long as there is no terminal rust on the inside of tubes, it looks like everything can be made to come up very nicely. I wish I'd found it!
