Campy Victory Tubular Rims

Does anyone have an opinion on the quality of the Campagnolo Victory tubular rims? I thought I had some tubular rims that would work with my hubs from bianchigirl...but...alas, the hubs are 32 spoke and the Record rims I have are 36...so...now I need to purchase some tubular rims.

These will see limited riding...there will be some...but...minimal...

Are they Victory Crono or Victory Strada. Most of the Campi rims from back in the late '80s were pretty nice, some guys preferred them to the Mavic for whatever reason but I would call quality and durability a tie. IIRC and will try and look it up the Chrono were lighter and more for racing the Strada were heavier and more training and road racing.

I've had good luck with them.

Might have some extra Strada rims here.

Let me know if I should check for you.

I have a spare wheelset for my '93 Bianchi Giro with the Strada rims. Easily 8K miles on them since I built them up in '93 and they are still in good shape. They will probably outlast me.

Nice rims, but I'd find some Ambrosios instead, as my experience with their tubular rims is very good.

Sorry for the slow response.

I just checked and I am out of Victory Crono and Strada rims.

However, I do have a Victory Crono/Record hub wheelset hanging on a hook if that helps.

What hubs? I don't recall selling any Victory hubs recently.

I've had really good luck as well.

I have a set of Nemesis/Records hanging on a hook here waiting for their next home.

Might build up my Sintesi frameset next winter......

When Campagnolo first came out with rims, they had two lines: Record (22 mm width) and Victory (20 mm width). In the Record range, they had 3 models that differed by weight (and corresponding durability). The heaviest and most robust was the Pavé at 365 g (you always need to add the weight of the eyelets), followed by the Strada at 330 g and finally the Crono (which is Italian for time trial) at 280 g. The first two were both hard coat anodized and the Crono was non-anodized. The Victory range was made up of two models, the Strada (Road in Italian) at 310 g and Crono (Time trial) at 285 g. My experience would point to the Campagnolo rims being a slight bit better than the contemporary Mavic, but they were also more expensive in North America at the time.

I have ridden Campy Record and Victory Strada rims extensively. No problems with either. Record rims sell for a lot more, for not much of a benefit as far as I can tell.

I did just pick up a wheel at a bike shop liquidation that included a C-Record 7-speed freewheel hub and a Record Pave rim. $10. Haven't glued this puppy up yet. I may just build a whole C&V bike up around this wheel.
