Giant Roam 2 has:
- hydraulic vs mechanical disc brakes (big difference).
- 27 vs 24 speeds.
- better Acera vs lower deraileurs.
- beefier 31.8 vs 25.4mm handlebars
Basically the Roam 2 seems more comparable to the "Crosstrail Sport Disc".
Personally I would pass on Schwinn ... But also look at the Trek DS line (8.4).
The Giant ends up the "best value", but having both a Rove 2 (woman's Roam) and Trek DS 8.4, I prefer the Trek.

You almost always get more for your buck with Giant, if they fit you!

Thanks, they didn't have the roam just the escape, the guy selling was pushing that one as I said my off road use will be light if non existent.
Though I still like the concept of a hybrid trail capable bike even if I never use it for that, not sure why.
I will look at the crosstrail sport though it is a bit more than I wanted to spend. I also will wait for the roam 2 just to see.
Thanks

Sales people will always push what they have in stock. They are trained to do that. I should know. I have taught that course.
"State of the art is what you have in your stock room".
