Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Solo sprints are low-mid 30s, but it can be much higher when with a group of fast riders.

There's a radar speed limit sign in my area, and when the strong group of riders pass through, we often see 37-39mph. This is a fast group of riders(mostly Cat2 or 3/Masters racers)

I'm new and don't really know exactly what I'm doing—just over 35mph on a flat, no head- or tail-winds, solo, on Cosmic Elites (30mm). I'm much heavier than most of you, so I am totally gonna grab some 88mm chinese clinchers and have a fun time.

Like most, on a flat out "kill myself effort", I can hit mid/high 30's honestly (AKA, no/little wind). I run some ROL Race SL wheels...not really sure that matters figuring I could hit the same on the much less nice Fulcrum 7's I had before that.

The fastest speed I have ever recorded on flat ground was 69kmh, this was half a lifetime ago and when I trained for sprints.

Now I am blissful if I can hit 45kmh... a bad hip / leg slows me down.

This is like asking what's the biggest fish you ever caught. 30mph turns into 37 on the internet.

And this. By myself doing sprint workouts, I'm typically in the low 30's. Fatest sprint, I've ever recorded was a Circuit race in the Tour of Bahamas at 46mph, and very slightly uphill. But it had a fast downhill runup, and a large strong group.

Bottom line is that you only have to be slightly faster than the people you're sprinting against; the actual mph doesn't matter.

I think the fastest I've seen on flat terrain on my own is ~24 mph. Guess I'm the slowest one around here.

Have hit 37 from a dead stop racing a moped from a stop light. It was a guy from work who thought he was being funny by offering to race but didn't realize that him being about 100lbs too heavy for the little moped actually mattered.
