Anyone wearing Showers Pass 2.1? Thoughts?

I got a Showers Pass Elite 2.1 Jacket - and while it seemingly is still waterproof after a dozen or so rides - it seems like the sleeves don't beed up anymore - they just get soaked and feel crazy heavy on my arms. Anyone else got this jacket?

It might need a wash.

Can't speak to Showers Pass, but I swear by my 02 rain jacket. They're about $25 and are lighter and more packable than anything I've found. Their material breathes better than goretex. They ARE NOT stylish. Just cheap, waterproof, breathable and super light.

Or a fresh coating of water repellent (after being washed). Their site has care instructions.

Thanks for posting this. The reviews on Nashbar make the material look pretty fragile, but I'm thinking of getting one for an upcoming trip, just to have "in case" of bad weather. Easily pack-able and light - even if it lasted one tour, at that price, it would be okay with me.

I've used a Showers Pass Elite 2.1 jacket for several years and it's still as waterproof as ever. You might want to send an email to Showers Pass through their website. It sounds like the waterproofing on your jacket might be faulty. I use my SP Elite as a winter jacket as well as rain coat, and it gets a lot of use because I commute year-round. It's the best rain jacket I've found.

I have the Shower Pass Elite 2.1 and if I lost it tomorrow I would not go out and buy another one. My expectations were high when I purchased it but it didn't live up to the hype. I would give it a 6 out of 10. I would go the $25 route if I had to do it again. And yes has the same feeling as yours, with those heavy arms.

Had a Showers Pass and thought it was ok until I bought a J&G rain jacket. Hands down the best I have ever used and cheaper than Showers Pass as well.

I have an ALtura night vision jacket, I like it and love the visibility of it. I use mostly in the winter too hot and heavier than an O2. I got O2 and carry it as a back up everyday. I am tempted to take it out now during the summer but I have been caught in strong wind heavy rain I would like to have it to keep from being cold.

Anyway I rode a metric century earlier this year in the rain with the O2 jacket. It kept me dry for the most part. (arms built up some sweat) but body was dry and I did not feel gross from sweat either... so I guess it was breathable. It is not pretty and fits snug in my armpits but it is light and for $25 cant be beat.

I have started out in the rain got too hot in it and shoved it in a jersey pocket. I could never do that with the Altura!

I have the Showers Pass, the O2, and the J&G. OK I see a problem there... I like the Showers Pass, it breaths better than the J&G and has better reflection, but it is more expensive and not made in Portland, OR like the J&G.

The O2 is definitely more breathable than the other two, and light, but I don't think it is probably durable. But they're so cheap they're almost disposable. I carry it when I think it might rain and be too cold to just get wet. The best way I used it was to take my shirt off and just ride with the jacket, I barely got sweaty that way. It has no reflective material at all.

I like my Showers Pass jacket but it's started losing it's water resistance after a year. Washed it and treated with Nikwax and it's seems to have restored it.

Yeah so just got off the phone with Showers Pass - apparently waterproofing can wear off this 250 jacket after six months less than 20 wet-weather rides - right - so they're sending me a spray.

Like I said, they have care instructions on their website.

Any jacket's waterproofing treatment will wear off unless it is made from plastic or rubber.
