Old Surveyor
Saw this picture of a guy 99 years old and still surveying. That's my goal in 28 years.

That would be my dad if he were still alive. Of course I don't think he'd be using that newfangled computerized GPS gadgetry. He'd probably still be lugging his transit, tripod, and surveryor's pole afield (or I would be!!!). As a kid back in the late 60s and early 70s dad did some land surverying as a side job. My siblings and I would usually be pressed into being his 'rod man' on those jobs. That was also before tick repellent was widely available. Good times!

At 99 to be standing, smiling, with a CAT hat on your head, comfortable blue jeans w/ straps = Life is Goood
When I am old, I am old, I will wear my pants rolled.

I ride with an 82 year old who was a surveyor. Very interesting guy. Retired to pursue other hobbies, including serving as an engineer for a local privately owned touristy train group.

No.., no, you've got it all wrong. What he is holding is a combination work stand/truing stand that he invented. This man positions himself at popular cycling routes around the country and provides the fastest complete overhauls anyone has ever seen. Of course, he doesn't like to take "No." for an answer, so if you disregard him or try to ride around him, he has been known to try to "chase" riders down.
