Great news
There is great news, and we can see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. The four most rotten months for cycling are over. Here in Nebr the sun is now up by 7 AM. I am more than half way thru my late winter overhaul of my bike and trike. I am so looking forward to my getting to ride my every other day sched.

The only thing is that with March being here it's been windy as heck... and this weekend looks like good riding weather except for the forecast 20 MPH winds with 30 MPH gusts.

I understand bad weather, but here the hit is infrequent and riding may be iffy or rarely impossible for 3-4 days at most. I just don't know what I would do with myself if I had to wait more than that to get back on the road. I'd be in the market for studded tires - or even better an ICE Full Fat.

All winter I've been participating in spinning classes 4 times per week. Now I'm wondering to myself how I'm going to keep up that program when the weather gets nicer.
I'm thinking these are pretty good problems to have.

It's been really weird here as well. The weather is flip flopping so much that my joints don't know what to think. 80 here yesterday and it's 45 out there now. It really looks like spring is here, and given the flower buds on my fruit trees early again this year I hope it's the case. I mean, that is what the rodent said.

Very warm month of February in Philly. We had several days in the 60s and 70s. March started out that way, too, but today it's back down to the 40s. Supposed to be back into the 60s at the beginning of next week. I am so hoping that holds through next weekend. If it does, I am going to take next Friday off and do a three-day loaded tour to a state forest in New Jersey. I will be heading to Montana on June 17th for two weeks of touring so I need to start getting miles under my belt.

Actually in my corner of the state, it's fairly hilly. Only out in the western half of the state is it table top flat.
Do you know why the prevailing winds in Kansas go from south to north? Because Nebraska sucks and Oklahoma blows.

My winter non-riding is December through March; pretty much the calendar winter plus the first part of December. November is usually rideable, but just on weekends due to lack of sun. March may have more sun but it's still cold; ice-out is usually around the end of March here in S. Michigan.

You could ride a stationary in front of a tv during winter but one day they might make a VR stationary bike that you ride inside but really feels and looks like you are out there riding the perfect trail. Keep 'biking' during winter.
I tell you what, if they made that, I'd want it. It could do things you couldn't do in real life like go faster than possible, change location, jump over things, etc. And bike any 'real' trails you'd never get to in real life.

This year i purchased a cycling jacket and gloves which allows me to ride in temps in the upper 20s.
Since December, i've put over 700 miles on my Cyclecross bike.
