Gout Flare
I've been dealing with a mild but persistent gout flare in big toe for about 3 weeks. It hasn't kept me off my bike but, it has been painful. Today because of the rain, I decided to do a spin class and the first time I stood on the pedals I about cried. By the end of an hour my toes was hurting much less. Maybe pushing the blood flow was the ticket.
FYI - I haven't had a gout flare for several years and then I was able to trace the cause back to something in my diet. This time there is nothing definite but, I have my suspicions. Needless to say I won't be eating certain things anytime soon.

I got several in my big toe and suffered through with a dose of indomethecin. Then I got bad attacks in each knee and threw in the towel. I've been on allopurinol for about 20 years with no side effects (that I am aware of) and no flares.

they say once you get it, the more likely you are to get it again. my 1st flare up was separated by a year before the next. but then they became more frequent. doctor & dietitians were not as helpful as I hoped
I recently cut out all meat & alcohol for 2 weeks, then worked a little back in over the past cpl weeks. been using lemon juice in water twice a day, also a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in water twice a day. just read that sugar is also bad. I have a sweat tooth, but bagels turn to sugar too. it's tough. keep up your research, keep that water going. try to stay of the meds, that sh*t is poison

that stuff is amazing. had a bad flare up beginning around Thanksgiving & ramping up into January. I've had that steroid before so I eventually called in for a dose. within a cpl (5-6) hrs the pain in gone. swelling not & pain comes back, but it works almost immediately. but man, I was on my back with it in the air with ice packs, guzzling water & taking some old meds I didn't use up but also got refills for, etc. super annoying. particularly difficult when traveling & staying in a hotel. I totally pigged out tho all kinds of bad food & drink that led to it all, I know

I've had gout on and off for several years. All of the anti-gout medicines give me gout. When I get it I try to drink plenty of water and stay away from anything acidic. It seems to help flush the uric acid crystals out of my system. I usually use Ibuprofen as the anti-inflammatory but if that doesn't work then I go for the prednisone. Seems to come on without any cause, but I know if you get dehydrated it can cause a flare-up.

Black Cherry juice, natural and unsweetened is a natural remedy. I drink a couple of half glasses a week and it washes the purines out of your system.
Cherry Juice For Gout: Facts, Fiction, Where And What To Buy
Nothing I have experienced compares to a bad gout outbreak. Horrible pain.

The cherry juice and apple cider vinegar are good suggestions, along with eliminating refined sugar and flour from the diet.

Let me suggest unfiltered apple cider vinegar, 4 x's a day (1/2 hour before each meal and bedtime). Your gout will go away in a day or two, but make a Tbsp of ACV in an 8oz glass of water a daily habit and never have an issue again.
Look it up, don't believe me because I never had gout but do drink ACV! It helps your body fix many ailments and problems.
