MONOCOG ops

Sold these when they were first released, maybe 2006? The first 29er I ever rode. Felt like a me-sized BMX bike (6'5"). Pretty fun to play around with on campus.
They're good, entry-level 29ers. Can't comment on off-road handling.

Looked at this, Kona Unit, Karate Monkey, and All-City JYD.
Leaned towards Mono because of price but ultimately decided on the Monkey because of value/versatility.

I had a steel frame monocog flight for a while. The flight was supposedly made of thinner tubing and was lighter than the normal monocog but I never weighed mine. It was my first single speed 29er. Great bike and is what sold me on steel frame SS 29er bikes. It's also the only frame I've ever messed up. The sliding dropout bent/ovalized. Don't know how, maybe a combination not properly tightening down the sliders and rough riding. (Took it to Bigbear downhill park one day and rode it for all it was worth.) But ever since that bike I've been riding single speeds with an EBB out of fear of bending trackends and sliding dropouts. Still, it was a good bike and I would recommend it to other riders.
