Launching soon...I love this idea for bike camping

A tent, sleeping bag and pad infused together. I don't know about you, but this just might be a very good thing for us bike campers...Rhinowolf.com (this is not my product, nor do I sell it, just something I find worthy to pass on)

So, what happens when the pad develops a leak? I've gotta replace the whole thing?

I modify my sleeping bag and pad choice based on the expected weather. And my tent choice depends on the number of people. Seems far more flexible to keep these items separate.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

I never buy multi-function integrated anything. (Except when it's impossible not to, as with cell phones)

The main reason is that I hate tossing an expensive item if one element fails, and prefer not putting all my eggs in a single basket.

In this instance there's more to it, because I might change the sleeping bag with the seasons, yet still use the same tent and pad.

Also, on the same bike trip, I might use the tent one night, and just the sleeping bag and pad on someone's floor, or in a church or firehouse. IMO - flexibility is paramount when bike touring, one reason we dress in layers rather than than a single warm garment.

i've, from time to time, put my thermarest inside my sleeping bag and my sleeping bag inside my bivouac sack. to pack, i just released the air from the pad and rolled it all up. when in camp, first thing i did was disassemble it and let it all air out a bit.

Really stupid idea.

1. When one goes so does everything else.

2. I don't get to pick various components. I am stuck with what the designer of the whole thing likes,

3. What happens if I want to use the bag or pad to rest or just for sitting?

4. Seems is would make drying a whole lot more difficult.

This especially. Plenty of times I have napped or lounged on my pad outside of my tent.

I think this would be great for waiting in line for Black Friday sales outside Walmart.

Big Agnes makes sleeping bags with a pocket on the underside for the separate sleeping pad, no bag insulation down there. Concept is insulation under you is compressed by body weight so is ineffective. Substitute the lab and move the insulation up top. This is similar to the subject bag but with separate modules. I've used my BA in all kinds of conditions, including snow, and love it!
Cheers!

The tent is right there on the main page.

Must be a problem with whatever they use for a DNS server here. I'll have to try later from home.

There's really not enough info to go on. Seems like the only detail is the weight. Nothing on pack size. My hammock, underquilt, and overquilt for down to about 30 degrees F come to about the same weight, although the giant rain fly I use pushes it up to about 3 kg. But then if weather is milder, I can substitute lighter quilts or light blankets and it will be considerably less. Couldn't do that if all the parts were integrated. On the other hand, weight seems comparable the the Seedhouse on its own without bedding, so it could be lighter than some systems. We just don't have any info about functionality, footprint, etc.

Of course you also lose out on options for how to pack it. I used to put all my tent and bedding stuff into one pannier, so no big deal, but these days the quilt and hammock go on the handlebars, the underquilt goes in a fork rack, and the rain fly lives one place if it needs to dry out, and another if it does not.

I do find the modular aspect interesting because it allows you to easily divide up a multi person tent among multiple people. But if each piece weighs as much as a stand-alone tent, then it seems like you'd be better off, weight-wise, with a two person tent than with two people each carrying a one person tent that can be joined together. Maybe if you're in a very volatile relationship?

Looks like the entire floor is pad/air mattress?

Doesn't look like a product for me. I've camped in arid regions with thorns and then developed punctures in Thermarests. This one looks like a bigger pain to find and patch any holes.

Probably a dirty mess after a couple of days. Cleaning???

Rolling up a dew covered tent with your sleeping bag inside is not recommended.

+1. That was my first, and only, thought when I actually saw the pictures.

Then again, if you want one free just figure out where the nearest festival to you is, and go collect it after it is abandoned on the last day!

What a terrible idea, for all of the reasons listed above, but it's clearly not marketed at people who regularly camp or do trips in different seasons or over different terrain.

This bolded, massive font quote from the site is telling:

Made for all campers & climates.
I can't think of one piece of equipment that I use that is good for all climates. If something like that exists, it's certainly not a tent or sleeping bag.

This is another one of those products that often comes up on Kickstarter or Indiegogo that seems really cool to people who don't actually do the thing it's used for. It's like that bike trailer that unfolds into a tiny cabin with bed that seems to regularly make appearances on the Facebook pages of my non-cycling friends. Enjoy fighting crosswinds with that thing trailing behind you.

I wouldn't really call it stupid...as you grow older and more mature, you will realize that everything has purpose. Sure, you have valid points, but not enough to call it stupid. Like for instance the weight of 2.5 kilos. Does your tent, pad and sleeping bag weight less than that combined? If it does, would you also say that is stupid to carry around unnecessary weight? I don't think the maker is stupid either, laughing all the way to the bank.

I always hesitate before calling any product that is shown here stupid. Seeing new things that I didn't have to look for myself is really the main reason I visit here, so thanks for sharing. But it was sort of in the back of my mind while looking at the page with its limited info. This is the sort of product that a well meaning non camping family member would buy for you because it makes sense to someone with little experience beyond setting up a private glamping setup out of the back of the SUV. "Yay! all in one! "Made for all campers & climates", my nephew(or niece)will love this!" If you have ever lived off a bike for a few weeks or months the drawbacks of this seem apparent.
