Probikekit shipping
I placed an order on August 17th. Have not seen it yet. I emailed them yesterday and haven't gotten a response yet. Has anyone else run into this issue with them shipping to the states?

Never had an issue with them. Ordered several times and they have always been pretty fast and responsive.

Ordered two tires $90 - took nearly 5 weeks and I paid duty on it. Ordered $300 wheelset and it arrived in a week and a half, no duty.
Have another wheelset on the way and tracking says it is due to arrive in Canada today. Ordered Sunday.

pbk seems pretty inconsistent. I've had orders arrive within a week and others took nearly a month.

I've always found them slow too. And a lot of times their shipments seem to get "stuck in customs" for me.

I had an order from them take close to a month. That was about two years ago - I don't believe I've ordered from them since then.

Never had anything take more than 2 weeks. If you file a claim with your credit card they'll start paying attention.

I have had good luck with PBK. Six orders in the last 6 Months. Usually I get a Shipping notice a Day or two after placing my order. The shipments have been as fast as one Week or as long as two. If there are any delays after you get your Shipping notice that would be on the Postal service or Customs, something PBK has no control over. I stopped ordering from Niagra Cycle because their orders took as long as 3 Weeks and they are 120 Miles from me...

PBK is quick to ship but the time for shipping and customs clearance is variable. My last order was for 3 chains which they shipped in two batches. I received 2 of the chains but one still hadn't shown after 30 days so I sent an email. They responded immediately and shipped another chain. Before the re-shipped chain arrived I received the original which I offered to pay for. They said it was gratis so I have no complaints.
I've ordered dozens of items from PBK and other UK retailers over the years and haven't had any significant issues. I don't order things I need quickly.

Any overseas shipment to the US is going to be unpredictable. The time to get through customs is out of the shippers control. I've had decent luck with PBK and their prices are worth the extra shipping time.

PBK seems to be inconsistent with their shipping. Most orders I've placed take 2-3 weeks, but one order took 2 years. They refunded the purchase after 2 months, and when it actually showed up they told me to keep it, free of charge.

Very odd. Back a few years when I was ordering more from them I remember placing an order from PBK and Performance Bike the same day. I received the order from PBK 4 days before the order from Performance which is ridiculous because Performance is 2 days via ground service from me and everything was in stock.
I've never had an in stock PBK order take longer than a week....just placed an order this morning...I guess we will see.

This is probably true but PBK can play a role in that as well. If they don't properly fill out the shippers export deceleration it will slow stuff down the customs process.

Correct. My sister-in-law worked for FedEx sales for years and said most likely someone didn't fill out the paperwork right. Even, it will arrive, just much later than expected.

The point is that you think they have some international shipping specialist doing their shipping. I'm guessing they don't. In fact I'm guessing the shipping department is one of the lower paying jobs at PBK and probably has some decent turnover.
And another issue is how much do they really care about sales to the US? I'm sure they do a good bit of business here but is it the largest part? I run a small scientific equipment manufacturer and we ship all around the world. Every country can be different in terms of what's the right thing to put on a customs form and what will trigger someone in customs. And then there's NAFTA...you know...the agreement that was supposed to make trade in North America easier? I'd rather ship something to China, Russia, Iran...just about anywhere other than Canada. Shipping to Canada means 3x the paperwork for me.
Anyway...international shipping can be tricky at best and a nightmare at it's worst.

Here's the thing...all it takes is one new guy to use one wrong word and it will get stuck ion customs...or worse yet the buyer will have to pay duty on some item that they shouldn't have to. I ran into this a few years back ordering from one of the UK sellers (I forget if it was Wiggle, Totalcycling or PBK). I ordered components which by the tax laws at the time should not be taxed coming into the company. But whoever filled out the paperwork was vague on the tax forms and I had to go to the post office and pay like $50 in taxes before the USPS would give me my stuff. I argued that the items in the package shouldn't be taxed and they said I had to go through some process to get my $50 back. In the end the hassle wasn't worth the $50.

Um...no...no it isn't...or it wasn't the last time I ordered. All the customs forms were had filled. I'm currently waiting on an order so if it's changed that's great. And I'm not blaming PBK for anything here, I've made MANY purchases from them over the years. I'm just saying stuff happens and it causes delays.
