What have you broken recently?
Sometimes it is ham handed mechanic work, other times worn materials have finally given up the ghost.
What C&V part is now permanently part of history because of your efforts?
I stripped my seat binder lug threading on the 1972 Raleigh Professional. The threads weren't up to snuff to begin with, could have been whitworth threading with a metric bolt and apparently tightening to the point of actually holding the seatpost in place was enough to set it off. Patiently waiting for a helicoil kit to arrive.

Hmmm, nothing lately, although my winter bike needs to be brought in for its winter refit, so I'll probably find a lot of wear on some things.
The list of worn out parts over the years does get long though.

My left big toe is officially broken after an old bear trap pedal snapped on me four weeks ago.

I broke my derailleur and the gear below it. The gear broke in half and I didn't even know it until the bike was having trouble shifting.
Fortunately I made it 25 miles home on a prayer.

Couple years back I didn't fully screw in the crank extractor on a Sakae, chainring side of course. I wound up stripping out the threads. I had to use a three-arm gear puller to get it off, a painful lesson I'll never forget. I was fortunately able to partially restore the threads with a bike research tapping tool, but that's only good for retaining the dust cap.

You have my sympathies. I broke a toe on my right foot in 2001 - half asleep walking through the apartment I lived in at the time in the dark and slammed it into the corner of a table leg. Swelled and turned a lovely shade of purple/blue. Even today it still aches occasionally..

Since Grady started it, I broke my left cheek/lower section of the eye orbit, and my jaw last May when I had the run in with a dog, while at speed. Other than those, things have been peachy keen here. Oooopps, almost forgot, broke two spokes over the last four months.

Reads Lyotard as the culprit to me.
Found a fractured seatpost binder bolt, the internal threaded side, clean and you will find stuff is the takeaway.

I'm in for a broken pelvis, came off the C+V 77 KZ 1000 at the dragstrip Fri 9/22.
Feels like the hernia from H**l, really sucks as the racing was consuming all my normal commuting time so I was counting on getting back on the bicycle and getting after it in the stellar fall weather to condition for the wet winter that lies ahead.
Now I won,t be getting on any bikes for 6 to 8 weeks.

I've broken two spokes lately. Both on wheels with Sturmey Archer AW hubs. There was something else, but I can't remember what it was.

I've broken lots of parts in the past but this has been a good season, with one flat tyre being the only mechanical issue. Now, excuse me while I run off to fondle some wood rims.

Just my body. Two months ago, I pinched the sciatic nerve in my right side, causing pain and weakness down my leg. The pain is mostly gone, but I am still working to regain strength. I'm using a stationary trainer as part of rehab, but only 15-20 minutes per session.

Last year I was riding an '87 Schwinn LeTour I had just owned a week and had looking almost new. When I was riding the freewheel seized up for a split second causing the RD to literally rip completely off the hanger and it destroyed the hanger beyond any possibility of repair. I limped it home single speed and threw the frame in the dumpster.
