Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pro Stealth Saddle set up (or other stubby nose)

Hi all,

any advice or suggestions as to how best to set up the stubby nose style saddles? I'm trying a Pro Stealth Carbon saddle right now. Did my first 30 miles on it this morning. Seemed pretty good for the inaugural voyage. I set it back from nose to bars by 1.5cm which seems to be about how much shorter than my usual saddle is. I felt a little more pressure on my hands than I'm used to though. Not sure if I should tilt up a bit, right now I have it essentially level. The saddle is billed as being good for aggressive positioning, certainly much more comfortable in the drops than my last, even though I have a saddle to bar drop of slightly less than 3 inches.

Anything that's worked for you, please let me know so that I can continue to experiment!

When I first put on my Pro Stealth, I matched the distance from the center of the stem to the widest point on my previous (standard) saddle. If I remember correctly, the difference from center to tip was 3cm. I prefer a slight downwards tilt of the Pro Stealth but not as much as would be needed with a standard saddle for a given saddle-to-bars drop.

When I switched to my Specialized Power saddle from a traditional saddle, I moved the nose back 3cm.
