Tern Luggage Truss V.1 vs. V.2
Has anyone used both the Tern Luggage truss 1 and truss 2? I only recently saw that a new version of the truss was available, and I have been considering getting the truss plus the Kanga Rack for my Tern Link D7i. Are there any reasons Tern redesigned the truss? Are there drawbacks to Truss version 1 that the new truss eliminates? I see they're both rated to hold the same weight, but I can't help but think the broad flat aluminum extrustions on Truss v. 1 are more sturdy than the thinner, rounded extrusions on Truss v. 2.
Any thoughts on these trusses?
Thank you.

there is some alternatives to hold cargo in front, i.e. brompton adapter

I think the reason for the trusses is get the bag out of the way of the cables which stick out further on Dahons than the Brompton. Not as good design but better than nothing.

I have the Mk1 truss and the Kanga rack on my Tern and find the combination excellent. Not as rock solid as the Brompton system but I’ve had no issues carrying stuff up to its weight limit. The only issue I’ve had is the Mk1 truss rubs the brake cable outers as the edges are quite sharp so I’ve wrapped my cable outers in some tape to protect them. The newer Mk2 truss shouldn’t do this as it’s round profile. Other than that I think it’s the same.

I'm pretty sure the V2 is made out of steel, not aluminium, so is plenty strong enough. V1 has sharp edges, V2 has no sharp edges and is easier to route cables. If there's a breakage, it would be a bolt at the bolt on point to the frame rather than anywhere else, I suspect, so no real difference between the V1 and V2 in that regard.

For the curious in the audience, here's what Tern's 2.0 truss looks like:

Alternative: MiniMod adapter + any Brompton bag.
