Cheers

I will take one as well! Yumm-o)))

Kind of funny they listed Crackandfail but not Roadmaster or Murray two other quality brands under Dorel Industries.

"Aquila is the in house brand of Oakville and Toronto based bike shop Racer Sportif. The company offers carbon road, triathlon and track bikes that have been ridden by Canadian development squad Team RaceClean as well as by Canadian track athletes on the international circuit."
They failed to mention that the Canadian men's team rode Aquila bikes in the 2015 Panam games road race. They rode on wheels that I built.

Well, it says "The companies based in Canada..."
Which seems, by their lights, to include Cannondale ("Connecticut based Cannondale ... is owned by Canadian company Dorel Industries which is headquartered in Montreal,") and also Cervélo ("The company’s headquarters are in Toronto but it is now owned by Dutch conglomerate Pon Holdings,"). So, take the list for what it's worth, I guess.

He's a local guy, lives about 40 minutes from here. Never met him. Per braze-on pricing is c$25ea, according to when I last checked his site. Which means if I had an old frame I wanted to add those to, pricing would be $200+ (if he'd even work on it). Better to either have the guy build a bike from scratch or find a used bike with the braze-ons you want. But, it is specialty work and he can charge what he sees fit.

On that list of Canadian Bikes, I'd like to see a sidebar list of all the Canadian Brands who have come and gone.

I didn't see Simcoe on the list; they must be out of business.

Long out of business but I really like my Sekine SHS 271 which I use a utility bike. It has a full tange chrome moly frame and a lot of old shimano running gear.

If we start including defunct Canadian brands and manufacturers, that list is going to get very long. The list that I compiled has 382 names. and I've probably missed dozens of them.

What about Bassi

There was no Bassi from Montreal on the list, they make some very nice bikes.

Maybe a defunct Canadian bike brand thread is in order and keep this one for the currents.

A friend of mine told me that the bikes for the London bike hire scheme ('Boris' bikes) were made by a Canadian company. I think it was Devinci but I couldn't swear to it.

If you look at a picture of the London bikes and a picture of a Montreal Bixi bike you will see that they are pretty much identical. Devinci manufactures the Bixi bikes which were designed by industrial designer Michel Dallaire who lives in Montreal

I'm not sure how my Norco made it to North America, but I do know it was in the California bay area before it made its way to Texas. It has a maple leaf decal on the top tube, but the bottom bracket sticker states "Made in Cambodia".

'Designed in'.. is usually suggesting the designs are sent to contract manufacturers in Asia who offer un-beatable prices.

US Trucks from Toyota are assembled in Texas..
