Large/small cassette interoperability?

I'm setting up an old road bike to accept a larger cassette by using a longer rear derailleur and maybe a roadlink. The same bike is being used on my Wahoo KIKR but I have a smaller cassette setup there.

Is there going to be an issue with using a bike setup for a larger cassette with a smaller cassette?

It will not shift as well, but it will work. Ideally, you could adjust the b-screw to move the RD closer to the large cog when it is on the trainer.
