Marelli bicycle?

Local ad mentions a Marelli bicycle - nasty campag steel mechs, ballila brakes.

Google shows no such beast.

I have a Gitane with a Magneti-Marelli spark plug, but that's pretty far from a bike-boom ten-speed.

Prhas the listing is a mis-spelling of something else?

there is a retail cycle shop by that name

so it might be a house brand for them

https://www.facebook.com/marellibikes/

https://www.instagram.com/marellibikes/?hl=en

there is a Marelli marque of motorcycles

it was common in the past for makers of motorcycles to also offer bicycles

two examples have encountered are Tansini & Terrot

your description sounds like a machine which could have been contract produced by Chiorda

here is a bicycle bell marked with the name of the G. Marelli motorcycle enterprise -

seller seems to be trying to get the most out of it as a kind of part out...

they are offering the fittings as a lot without a frame or wheels

wonder if perhaps frame the recipient of a pretzlization and listing represents an attempt to extract a few dollars...

seller gives date of 1971 for machine from which fittings come

kitting lines right up with how a base model Chiorda product would have looked at that time

good possibility it may have been contract produced for the G. Marelli motorcycle firm

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-other-bike/b...971/1656335444

should you wish to explore further you could check to see if CA had an agent for G. Marelli motorcycles at this era

I asked (well of course I did):

"The frame was cracked in place where it could not be fixed and went in the garbage"

Mirella possible, Ballila was mis-spelt.

yes, certainly easy to do, even you have done it.

this retail cycle shop in Lambiate, Italy says it has been in operation for fifty-seven year so its launch would have been in nineteen sixty-six

possible subject cycle could have been a house brand one done for them...

It's a Mirella bike. Pretty rare. They were considered higher end back in the early 70s but they were heavy by today's standards.
Here's a pic of the Mirella I used to have. If you google Mirella images this pic and a few others of the same bike will show up.
To the best of my knowledge, this bike is now in the Tennessee Transportation Museum.
