Schwinn Paramount Elite '82
I might have the chance to purchase a 1982 Schwinn Paramount Elite road bike with all original components, barely ridden -- if at all... looks like a museum piece. Owner suggested being interested in letting go for the right price. Knowing these are super rare and custom made, I'm trying to get a sense of a reasonable price range before I make an offer. It's one of the most beautiful bikes I've ever seen, and I have a little cash set away, but not sure if this might be WAY outside my range. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Here is my 83 paid $1500+ shipping several years ago. I like chrome and it is all Campagnolo Super Record. No chrome and lower componet group price goes down

Wow, that's a gorgeous Paramount! Thanks for all the info. I didn't really have time to take any photos before (and the few I took were backlit). Next time I have a chance, I'll take some and post. Based on the info in the link you gave, it's a Touring (assuming prev owner followed suggestions from catalog). The components are Campagnolo, Cinelli handlebars, but it has a Rally derailleur, which is interesting. Less chrome than yours - only on chainstay and fork. It's also a beauty though. Thanks again!

As you know, those bikes were only made for 3 years and while I'm sure they made a decent number, many of them are likely gone by now, or in poor condition and then there's also the frame size, which of course is of "paramount" importance. Finding one in great shape in your size isn't the easiest thing to do and of course the cost is commensurate.
