New to me CV bike, first time I bought from Italy

I have been shopping Italian frames in Italy. I have looked at a number of them, trying to stay on budget, I don't know why, I have 6 bikes now but, well I don't have to explain to this crowd.

BORGA BORG.A. COLUMBUS SL STEEL FRAMESET FRAME VINTAGE 70s 80s LUGS BORGOGNONI | eBay

I could (and have) spent hours on this guys eBay store. This frame shipped today, I'm expecting it in 2-3 weeks. The seller combines shipping so I was hoping to find other things but I will see how this one goes.

I'll be looking for some Campy stuff to build it up with, crank, seatpost, headset. Right now I'm expecting to go 1 by with this, single front, no shifter, very light in the back 5 or 6 speed. # of my bikes are single speed and that is about all I ride around here (Fl) really don't need anything else even on the waterway bridges. So if anyone has some deals on attractive Campy gear speak up. Not interested in Delta brakes though.

You might want to put up a WTB in the C&V for sale forum. Stuff will pop up.

Nice, I've dealt with that seller before and he treated me right and was helpful in finding a part I needed.

I'm pleased to hear good things about this seller. He responded to me right away on some questions I had and I liked the detailed listing and clear pictures and descriptions.

I found at least ten frames I would buy, I expect to look at his listings often, just to dream but maybe buy.

What saddens me is you’re not building it into a proper race bike. Why even buy a frame with a FD braze on if you’re not going to use it? That caliber frame should be done up right! But…it’s yours to do with as you see fit. I’ll get over it. Looks like a great frame at a good price! Yes, I’m jealous!

”Hand made.” Mmmmmm!

Only sometimes slightly scuffed, but I am amazed I haven't seen more damage. I'm happy you have only good experiences. Not to say mine have been bad, just the potential for bad.

I bought an NOS headset from that chap and his attention to packing it was WAAYYY beyond what I have ever seen from any seller.

Best of luck with the frameset!

+1 on the build , but it IS your bike. I am looking forward to seeing it built up , and even more important , ridden! Second generation Super Record would be nice , but it will be interesting to see what you come up with. Joe

I can't wait, I like finding parts and building up a bike more than I like riding I think, I love having a vintage bike and doing the occasional morning ride, maybe in a friendly urban setting.

For mountain riding and long days I'm a more up to date guy.

I have been shopping for some nice components to do up the frame I have coming, I'm surprised how much top quality vintage stuff is out there. I was spending an afternoon looking at "Pedalers Playground" in CA,

Want to kill a few hours?

Pedalers Playground | eBay Stores I'm getting the feeling I may be sinking a bit of $$ into this project (if the frame is all that of course)

I checked out the shipping : 75 bucks to the US. Pretty hard to ship a frame within the US for that. Not that I need another frame, but that’s a good price.

My thought exactly and I was going to get another frame at the same time and asked him about that. He will combine shipping and the second frame will only add an additional $30.

The seller has the exact NOS team saddle I need for the "Oscar Freire" bike but he's holding tight on the price. If I could ever get through to Oscar to confirm authenticity I'd spend the crazy stupid money for it, LOL!

That's really light for a steel bike and has some nice features. You made a nice choice.

My frame arrived this afternoon and I could not be more pleased. It is very light, in excellent vintage condition, the chrome on the rear stays is close to perfect, the chrome on the front fork is even better.

The best part is Art Frames is a place I expect to buy much of the gear I am looking for, Both for this bike and a Cinelli I have been riding for a while. This frame was inexpensive, cost to ship was less than I spend to ship something 100 miles away in the States,

The frame arrived 12 days early and was packaged better than any bike frame I have received and I have done this a couple of dozen times.

As of an hour ago it is sitting in my work stand while I just poke around it a bit, I hung a rear wheel to get a feeling for tire clearance, bore scoped the seat post and slid in one of my temporary posts to check it out, Just all the stuff you do to a new project. Picked up a couple of TTT stems this evening from one of my local vintage stuff hoarders, I'll get a few pictures up in the next couple of days.
