Rattling 105 hydro shifter
Had this almost since I got the bike 4-5 years ago so it’s not something that has worsened but I was just reminded of it. It must be 5800 I think.
The right shifter lever is slightly loose somehow. Rough ground will make it rattle and slight pressure on the outside of the lever, not enough to swing it, just hold it against the first sense of resistance, is enough to stop it happening.
Do I just have to (continue to) live with it or is there a likely culprit inside worth investigating?

Maybe check all the screws holding the plastic cover parts, especially #1. That part is notorious for rattling.

Ah great sugggestion thanks, but just checked and that piece seems to be attached ok. Doesn’t move relative to the lever anyway. It’s almost like whatever holds the lever onto the rod it rotates around is a little loose so maybe serious surgery needed to get to it.
