Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Opinions anyone?

Opinions anyone?

Just got a late 70's early 80's Pogliaghi Trackie for my first fix and need to put on a new chainring.
Question is which one? I can get either a Sugino Mighty or this Campagnolo one. What do you guys think will look best and which will be better ie wear??

Cheers.

One looks like a 42T and the other a 52T. As for wear, by increasing the number of teeth by 25% you should get about 25% more life from the ring since the wear is distributed over more teeth.

I'm sorry, those were just the type of rings that i can get. Both are 47 or 48T I'm pretty sure. Just really wanted to know if there were pros and cons of each brand as well as an opinion on looks. I'm just new to this so i need all the help i can get.

Opinions? I think that Hector Berlioz, despite working in the shadow of the more well-known Franz Liszt, was a more interesting and dark Romantic composer.

I doubt any c-ring made of aluminum will be more durable than any other made of the same material.

Salsa rings are 7000 series AL, and others I beleve are 6000 series. I *believe* but am not positive that 7k is harder than 6k.

Surley makes a stainless ring if you need ultimate durability:
