Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Now that carbon fiber bikes are dime a dozen. Do you think a full carbon fiber bike will hit the $1000 price range in the next 3 years? A complete CF bike under 20lb with sora or tiagra group perhaps.

I remember when Aluminum bike first hit the market, such as Cannondale, they were so expensive back then. Now you can find Aluminum bike in the $300 range.

You can already get them for $1400 on clearance at end of season. I'd say three years is a definite yes if not sooner.

Definitely. I'm more excited to see what the next amazing frame material will be. Maybe some kind of crystaline structure. Who knows.

Nepal is increasing its carbon prepeg capacity to compete directly with China.

so for this reason Carbon bikes will be $1000 in a few months.

You sir have hit on the answer to global warming and at the same time, the answer to many bikers' dreams. Turn all the excess carbon dioxide into carbon fiber! There will be so much they will have to pay you to take it.

If this is true, I'm sure it will be under $1000. The question is when and how soon will it hit the bike manufacturers. Do you think Trek and Specialized will suddenly drop a few hundred dollars on next years model?
