I have no friends that ride fixed gear bikes

I have hung out with the "crew" here in town before, attended critical mass, etc., but the people here just aren't really my friends, as in we don't hang out on the weekends. I just don't have a lot of time to hang out in general, when I do go out it's with other friends from school. Additionally, I have been starting to go on longer rides with the roadie team at school. I don't know what to do.

I don't even have friends that ride. I'd love to go out on rides with good pals but it's only me out there.

Welcome to THE FUTURE! of fixie ownership.

It's gonna be a long, hard 15 to 20 years waiting for it to come back into style, but believe me, the cred will be worth it.

I know a lot of cyclists in cbus through random things, I hang out with them at the alleycats, rides etc... but I feel the same way. I don't know anyone to ride with on weekends.

I have a few(the people who introduced me to it) that ride fixed that I go to school with them but I've never actually gone on rides with them oddly enough. The only person i ever ride with rides a single speed road bike.

My other friend who rides fixed and is one of my best friends lives 3 hours away and I went on a ride with him today because we were both visiting out parents for easter.

The only way I can get any body to ride with me on any sort of bike is if I spend a week convincing them then loan them a bike to use. Then we ride about 2 miles and they call someone to come pick them up.

I'm part of a bike club but they only meet every couple weeks in the summer and ride the same route every time as slow as humanly possible. I don't see any of them out side of those rides and wouldn't really be friends with them if it weren't for riding. Also, none of them would be caught dead on a FG/SS .

I see other FG riders here in SF, but its just like chicks. Im too much of a p**sy to go talk to 'em.

Just get drunk before a ride. Approaching people is easy that way.

I kinda hate riding with other people, because no one I ride with takes cycling as seriously as I do. They either don't care and just want to cruise at 2 mph or take it really seriously and rip it for 100 miles at 30mph. I need friends who like cycling just as much as I do :-(

That being said, I have plans to do a bunch of centuries this summer and I'm sure I'll be cruising real slow with friends otherwise

sounds like you're the perfect canidate to step it up to the 30mph buddies

aspiring racers would be jealous... the best way to get better is to ride/train with people that are faster than you!

I remember my mom was there when I arrived.

I think your theory is flawed, but I agree. Deal with it.

I'm trying to convince about 3 dozen of my riding buddies to go fixed. It's been hard.
