Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

front deraileur touching crank arm grr

I noticed today that my front deraileur is touching my crank arm every revolution when i pedal. This only happens when my compact crank is on the biggest cog. can i adjust this? or should i take it back to the lbs? (trek 2.1 is only 2 weeks old).

I don't have a compact-anything and my legs already rubs the fat water bottle. Hope the "compactness" is really worth it.

Simple, bring the FD cage "in" a quarter turn of the adjusting screw at a time until no rub and chain still shifts OK.

the DIY method,

or since 2 weeks should be covered by a "free tune up" from the LBS, go get it checked by them.

What's the matter with kids today? They are not curious how things work. If they do, the fix is obvious. God forbid they have to pay sum1 to rotate the car tires.
