50+ Slogan

I saw a bumper sticker today, which was stuck on a 1969 Chevelle SS 396

"You're only Young Once ... but You can be Immature All of Your Life!"

Unfortunately I tend to live up to that statement more often than I
would like.

By the way, my wife was driving a '69 Chevelle when we met. It was that
dark blue with the white vinal roof. Very pretty car (and driver), though it
was only a 307(the car). It finally started depositing bits and pieces
of itself along the highway and we had to send it on its way. Sigh, the
good old days.

I had a yellow '69 Chevelle 307 with black vinal roof. My (then) wife wanted it badly so we bought it. Got divorced in '70 and I ended up with it (and the payments). Worst piece of junk I ever owned. Traded it in for a new '71 VW Beetle.

Actually, I think that I'm better once than I ever was. Takes longer.

I have a quote I printed for my cubicle wall... completely out of context, and I forget which song it is from, but it is from a Pink Floyd song.

"... Every day is the right day."

Of course, when depending on how the day is going, another songechoes in my mind by Pink Floyd, from the album "Obscured by Clouds"

Sometimes when I sing the song to myself I think that being in my fifties, I am still in my prime... sometimes I think of myself as old. I think for the 50+ forum, prime is define for the cycling years.

The memories of a man in his old age,
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in the gloom of the sick room,
And talk to yourself as you die.

Roger Waters has never been one for cheerful lyrics.

Roger Waters is one of my all time favorite lyricists. A few years ago, I believe I could have recited every word of "The Wall" and "The Final Cut".

Me too for The Wall, not so much The Final Cut.

My ex-wife and I used to have significantly different taste in music, and I used to ask her occasionally who an artist was on the radio, and when it was Pink Floyd, she would say, "The worm guy" from the memorable line, "And the worms ate into his brain."

The song "Comfortably Numb" when matched to key events in my life is my theme song...

When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I can not put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
I have become
Comfortably numb

But, I digress...

I recorded a concert by David Gilmore that was broadcast in high-def with DD 5.1 audio. I think it was from about 4-5 years ago. It was fantastic. Watched it three times over a period of 6 months. He played "Comfortably Numb" along with a great performance of "The Division Bell."

Waters played in Milwaukee last summer and I was hoping to go ... until I found that the tickets were $100 each.
