Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

what type of chocolate milk do you drink. amd where do you get it?

every time i visit a Super Stop and Shop, which is where i usually do my food shopping, i can never find any regular Low-Fat Chocolate Milk. they normally have plenty of Low-Fat Soy Chocolate Milk, but i've never tried it and i don't know if it tastes anything like regular Chocolate Milk. and by regular Chocolate Milk, i just mean something like a house brand or similar. also, they have plenty of Nestle Quick and similar stuff, but i'm guessing that most people would actually consider that chocolate milk...

so basically, what type do you drink, and where do you usually get it?!?!?

I once bought a bottle of chocolate milk from our local Stater Bros that was awesome. It came in an actual glass container and had a picture of a black and white cow on it. It was a little more expensive than the cheap brown paper carton stuff but way worth it. I think it even came from a local dairy here in CA but I'm not sure. Unfortunately, our local Stater Bros doesn't seem to carry it anymore. Every time I go in there I look but there's only the cheap carton stuff. I'm beginning to wonder if it was just a dream I had - the perfect chocolate milk dream.

dunno but the one i always buy on rides has a cow on it. (that should narrow it down)

that stuff is great fuel on a ride! just don't mix it with soda or juice...

Is it in an actual "glass" container?

Chocolate Soy milk is passable, but I wouldn't say it tastes like regular chocolate milk. It tastes more like a chocolate protein drink, like myoplex or something.

My supermarket has Farmland Dairies chocolate milk but it is too chocolatey for me, I like to control the amount of syrup, so I use hershey's syrup or ovaltine powder with 1% milk.

ensure is really popular with (long distance) riders out here.

i finally tried one this week and it was actually even better than chocolate milk! believe it or not. it's like a meal in a bottle.

The best in the world.

I have it flown in. If you click on "order online" they will say that "due to extravangant shipping costs, we do not offer our yogurt or milk for shipment at this time."

To a former world class athlete, there is no such thing as "extravagant shipping costs..."

BTW...make your own. Use Dutch cocoa and sugar. It's better than that fructose stuff you get in a box at the store.

I have 3 favorites depending on my mood.

1)fat free milk with ovaltine, either rich chocolate or chocolate malt
2)for that diner style...fat free milk with bosco syrup
3) chocolate silk

i use the rich chocolate instant breakfast mix for the base of any chocolate shake i make at home though. I recommend a bulk store like Bj's though to buy as its like 100% cheaper there.
