BlackOps BlackStar frame build out
I can't find the old post asking about this frame, so thought I would start a new one. Someone asked about the legitamacy of Frame Builder Blackops and end user experience. I thought I would share my experience.
I just finished my first road race (107 miles) on the frame and am really please. The claimed frame weight of 930 grams was actually heavier than the frame I received, which weighed 850 grams (56cm). I built the frame out with full Sram Red components, Tune Olymipic Gold wheels a Tune Seatpost and Bontrager XXX Lite bars. The seatpost is a standard 27.2 BlackOps Carbon/Ti Seatpost with BlackStar Compact Cranks and an EdgeElite Carbon Seat. Finished weight of the bike is 6.821 Kg., which is down right respectable.
Total build out cost me less than $2200.
The highlights of the Frame are simple:
I will have to say the big downside however was my choice of Saddles. The Edge Carbon saddle proved less than comfortable over the pitted roads. While I didn't have a similar experience when training, I will definetly consider changing seats out before my next race.
I would love to hear anyone elses experience with this frame. I've only got about 1K on the frame, but would love to hear other peoples experiences.
Thanks-
Keep the rubber to the road

The highlights of the Frame are simple:
- Solid HM Carbon frame
- Very responsive Cornering
- Ample Vibration Dampening
- Stiff BB

Hi,
Purchased the frame directly through them at www.kbcyclewerks.com. I emailed them before buying and they sent me a discount coupon for 10% off. I have noticed recently they are selling them on ebay in their ebay store for about the same price. Oddly enough, some of their stuff is cheaper on their website than buying through ebay.
