Not so lightweight! What does your bike weigh?
how much does your bike weigh?
My winter road bike (a massi columbus gara tubing) was in the kitchen today for some fettling and on a whim i stepped onto my scales with it to see what it weighed.
I was mortified to find it weighed 25 lbs
As I had recently fitted some lightweight alu forks I had hoped it would be nearer 20lbs .
What does your road bike weigh?
HELP
could someone help with recovering my original ID please.

My ~63/64 cm Miyata 912 weighs 25 pounds as ridden. I could probably drop a little if I really wanted to but I'm not too worried about it.

Lots of 25# gas pipe that I never ride.
I guess I've progressed or regressed to the point that riding bikes over 25# doesn't interest me at all.

FYI, I was in a bike shop recently and spotted an NOS late 1980's Tommasini 61 cm Prestige frame in Columbus SPX that was for sale. Since I own the same bike, I asked them to weigh the frame just to know (I've never had my bike completely disassembled to weigh its frame).
4.7 lbs, frame only.

I weighed these with a Park DS-1 scale. All with pedals and bottle cages.
In order of heaviest to lightest:
Miyata 912 54cm with mostly Dura-Ace 7400 components. 22lbs 3oz
Eddy Merckx Grand Prix 54cm - Reynolds 753 tubing
with a complete Mavic SSC group. 20lbs 7oz
Vitus 979 53cm with a mostly complete Mavic SSC group. 19lbs 11oz
Alan Super Record(?) 54cm, Campy Chorus 8spd group
and Mavic Krysium SL wheels. 19lbs 7oz
Vitus 979 51cm with a mixed bag of mostly Campy,
set up as townie. 19lbs 6oz
Eddy Merckx(Molteni) 54cm - Columbus SL tubing, Campy
Record carbon 10spd group and Mavic Ksyrium SL wheels. 19lbs 3oz
And for my “non-classic” a Litespeed Arenberg 53cm with a Dura-Ace
9spd group and Williams Cycling System19 wheels. 17lbs 3oz

My '72 Fuji Newest weighs in at catalog spec of 22.5 lbs. I just started using the new lightweight air in the tubulars and the special lightweight water in my bottle so that helps somewhat. I won't tell you what it weighs with me on it.

I built a steel Ironman to under 20, but my century Centurion, in steel, is 22.4 lbs.
I could make it lighter but I like the OEM hubs and wheels.
My "C&V" carbon Centurion bikes are 19.4 and 19.9 lbs. The heavier one is actually a bit smoother.
I have lighter bikes, but nothing I like as much, when you get right to it, as the steel Ironman at 22.4.

how on earth do you get your bikes to weigh under 20lbs ?
My massi frame is a bit heavy being Columbus Gara but that would only account for 1lb to 1.5lbs at most my wheels weigh 3.75lbs which is not especially heavy.
The Alu forks are almost as light as carbon at 450gms
I reckon it must be that led rear light and AA batteries ....thats coming off tomorrow lol

According to my bathroom scales on concrete floor, the difference between me alone and me holding the Bridgestone RB-T (54 cm) in the configuration shown in my link below, is 24.5#. That surprised me, as the catalog weight is 24.5#, and that Brooks Flyer is almost two pounds by itself!

I'm more concerned with the rider weight than the bike weight. I'm finally back under 140# for the first time in many years!

I no longer worry about weight on the bikes, as I've been that route. I had a guy bring a bike over for me to rehab, and he looked at the racks.
To modern CF: "this looks fast"
To steel C&V: "how much?"
He's a mountain biker. Says weight is irrelevant. My kinda guy.

My '86 Ambrosi, (see South America, the Ambrosi Thread.)
weighs in at 18.4 lbs. - without pedals.
Of course if I change the tires and seat, brings it down to 17.4 lbs.
I kidd you not!

J T

At one point pretty much all of my rider bikes were 28 pounds: a Lotus mountain bike, a Fuji raod bike, and a tall ass Marukin single speed.
Now, my xtracycle has gotta be at least 45 unloaded (which it never is), and my beast of a cruiser is about the same.
