Derailleur Hanger Question/Problem
Building up a 70's Super Paort (Schwinnliness). And Orderd a hanger from Smart Bike Parts. Didn't Receive... out of stock. Reordered... This time they Sent a SCHIM Turney MtB derailleur. I Q: why, they say, "It's got the right Hanger" (i.e. old School like GT 100) I disassemble the thing only to dicover that instead of a threaded hole, there is a Pressfit/rivet-like Set pin ( thought it was screwed in until I tried unscrewing it.... once I beat the **** out of it it just spun..... poop!) So I'm back to square one. I'm gonna try the NOT SO Local Bike shop, But I wonder if they'll have anything this old laying around.
I looked at a Walmart huffy in the ditch and it Too has the set POST not a screw on derailleur.
Can this be drilled and tapped? Any idea what bore and tap threading???

Hello I do not quite follow your story. but it seems your are repairing/restoring a bike that needs a hangar yes? there are lots of part places that sell them. 'loose screws' for one. what kind of derailluer are you trying to install?
most newer rear derailluers are rivited or swedged to the hanger. this is done strictly as a cost savings measure. some older models Hurrett and suntour had a few that bolted to the hanger but that defeats the purpose if you are trying to keep cost down.

call the bike shops in your area. chances are they have either that part or an old derailluer you can get one from
