1960's Kenistons Track Frame
Ive just bought a 1960's reynolds 531 track frame from e bay, see pics attached. I believe it was made in Romford essex. Was wondering if anyone know's any info on the bike, the maker etc? Paid £280 for the bike which I think is a good deal concidering the nice lug work, paint is in good condition and has horizontal drop outs, whats your thoughts?

My opinion is that it's a very nice bike. You'll enjoy it.
I have no info on the bike. I can see the lugs are Nervex Professional, which are beautiful on any bike.

please tell me you didnt flip and chop the original track handlebars, or drill through what was probably original paint to put a brake... apart from that, it is an exquisite bike and you got a very good deal on it (not just because of the lugwork), enjoy!

Thanks for the info on the lugs.
I've only just bought the bike so unsure about handlebars or the brake. I hate the handle bars and the seat I dont think they suit the bike at all. Planning on replacing the bars with Cinelli Criterium handlebars. Then either having white bar tape and a nice white seat or tan leather.

My first nice bike was a beautiful, used 531 db Kenistons I bought in 1972 from Alan Shorter's shop in Finchley when I was 15 for 50 pounds. Mine was a gold road frame with full chrome sloping shoulder fork and chrome stays. It had dark red panels on the down and seat tube, and was equipped with tubulars and a mix of Campy parts. I sold it two years later to a close friend because I'd outgrown it and my mom and dad bought me a custom Holdsworth Super Mistral Fastback for Christmas. I tried to find info on Kenistons a year or so ago and couldn't find any at all.
If you google "Kenistons Motor Cycles" there is a listing for Romford, which may be the descendent of the bicycle maker.
