OT: Tyler is STILL CANCER FREE!

For those of you who have been following the saga of my grandson Tyler (see my avatar), now 7, he just underwent a week of testing. at the 6 month mark since his last chemo he is still cancer free.

He celebrated his 7th birthday and remission party on March 27th, but we've been holding our breath this past week as he underwent his 2nd quarterly barrage of tests. He's pretty normal now, his hair is back, he's feeling great, and with his swimming lessons and physical therapy he's getting his muscle tone back.

We've done some riding on the tandem, though he's still a little short to reach the pedals. I built a foot rest on the top bar that works great. He also rides his 18" bike, but honestly he really enjoys his Razor electric go kart that zips along at up to 12 mph.

Thank you for all you thoughts and prayers. I hope this is the last update I'll need to do on his health.

That's a hell of a lot for a little guy to go through. Glad to hear there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

That sounds great! And the further out he gets, still cancer free, the better the odds turn in his favor.

Last Friday night Tyler and fam were guests of honor at the Parkland Relay for Life 2010. My son in law got to give a 4 min talk on this past year. I had the presence of mind to record it on my phone.

If you are interested you can see it here.

I'm here with him today as both Mama and Daddy work days today. After the tutor leaves maybe we'll go to my house and go out for a little ride on "Jazz" the tandem.

Get him some SPD compatible shoes with platforms like this and he can help pedal:

Glad he's doing well. Cute kid!

So the Iron Man and I are here at Chris Everett's Children's Hospital at Broward General Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale. It's his weekly clinic visit where he gets weighed in, blood checked, and just a general check over. It's pretty routine now, and if all his counts are good we'll be on our way back to "Papa's" house for the rest of the day. He already has plans for taking Nana's dog Maggie for a bike ride in the wagon.

After that we have to go to the local high school to deliver some stuff for Nana. We'll take Jazz, the tandem.

We may even take the long route home and stop by his favorite pizza place for lunch!

Well the results just came back and everything is PERFECT! We're outta here!

Well, besides swimming, running thru the sprinklers, riding the doggies on the American Flyer wagon with bikes, tricycles, and his motorcycle (electric), we somehow found time to go out to do some errands on the tandem. Details blelow.

Tyler and I set out on the Lambo Tandem for some errands. First we had to deliver some things to Tarrevella HS. After that we came back home by the canal. Got up to 24 mph for a while. Later we had to go to Coral Springs Medical center for Tyler's Physical Therapy session. He's doing so well. Then we visited daddy at his work. Finally we headed home to play in the back yard. What a day.

Heres the details: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/71999

Then Mama came while we were on the swing with the sprinkers on. He had to go home so he could have dinner and they could all go the Cub Scouts. The fun never stops.
