Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wilier Iozard vs. Scott Addict R2

I'm considering purchasing the Wilier Iozard or the Scott Addict R2. They're similar bikes at similar price points so I was wondering if anyone had experience with either model and care to share their opinion?

Thanks.

Are you just buying the frame or a whole bike? If so what are the prices/components. The addict is 360g lighter than the Izoard... or about 8/10ths of a pound.

The Izoard is a beautiful frame.
Wiliers have a fantastic finish on them.
You won't be disappointed with it.

No Scott for you.

That being said the R2 is one of the sharper and classier looking race bikes out there today.

The Izoard runs like butter on the road. It is my dream bike that I am currently saving for.

As far as my experience I got to test ride one when my friend was at a shop test riding a Cannondale Synapse. It had full Ultegra 6700 and it was just pure bliss riding it. As far as warranty goes they have a 5 year warranty and the dealer said they do have crash replacement but he did not know the prices out of the top of his head. Is the shop you are getting from going to put together a custom bike or are you buying with whatever group the manufacturer ships with?

Once you get over three grand none of it sucks kid.

If you want to go faster, pedal harder.

That's all you have to know about this idiot sport. Carry on.

Scott's motto is grip it and rip it; if you disagree don't buy one.

I'm looking to buy the whole bike. The components they come with are almost identical, however the Addict comes with Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels while the Iozard comes with Fulcrum Racing 5.

Honestly, just pick the one that excites you more. The performance differences are negligible. If one rides a bit too rough for you, just let 10 psi out of the tires.

Thanks. Do you know what the five year warranty covers. I'm not looking for a custom build, I like the Ultegra 6700 package.

The warranty is standard stuff like other bikes. Manufacturer defects and paint.

The shop where I got my Scott bike also sells Wilier, and they do look nice!

My two or three word summary of the choice is:

Scott Addict R2 - lighter and likely faster/racier
Wilier Iozard - sexier and cooler
