I'll be trying out my first cyclocross race(s) this fall and will be using my lightweight hard tail.

I'm thinking I would like to get some street friendlier tires for the same bike, something that rolls better on hard pack and pavement, but will still work for the races. One of the reasons I want to do this is because I hardly ever ride that bike and I'm thinking I might start riding around town and such on it for fun. Anyway, it has tubeless rims, so I'm not sure what might be out there that is tubeless, 26", and not full of knobbies. I've looked around the net without any luck. Any suggestions? Also, even if a new set of tires wouldn't be perfect for cyclocross, I could still swap them out when desired.

Dang, ain't much to choose from in that realm, that I can see. There are a couple with small knobblies, though

Michelin dry probably better for the CX. Hutchinson cobra should ride and wear better on the pavement. I'd probably get a separate cheep wheelset with slicks for road riding so the knobs stay fresh for racing.

I'm looking for something that has small/no knobbies. I already have some good tires that should work for races, so I thought if I could find something that is good for roads and hardpack, that I could use those for around town and maybe for races (depending on the course, of course).

LesterOfPuppets, those Tioga's might just do the trick. I ordered a pair.

Throwing in the 26 inch tubeless rims, the obvious answer is "There's no such tyre." Certainly not within the limits of cyclocross tyre widths. Odd really - you'd have thought there was a huge market for street rideable 26 inch cross tyres.
