Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was checking for the steepest local hills by using map my ride and noticed they all seemed to come up at 20%. So I checked Canton Ave in Pittsburgh, and it came up 20%, too. Anyone else notice this?

I have been very disappointed in mapmyride. I have a few climbs I do when I can and all have registered an average around 10% on multiple power meters and a Garmin, but Mapmyride calls all of them 2.something%.

I paid for a year of mapmyride.com and won't be renewing. Their elevation calculations are awful. ridewithgps.com is a much better site IMO.

The area around here is mostly short steep hills and it doesn't register most of them.
