Bike trail on 101 before Santa Barbara...around La Conchita?

Just got back from a couple days of vacation in Santa Barbara and came across a bike trail on the 101. Not quite sure what area it was but I want to say La Conchita? Does anyone know how far it is and where is the starting point for this trail...would like to ride it some time. By the way, Santa Barbara felt like biketown, USA...got to bring the bike next time.

That is a dedicated bike lane for rides between Ventura and Rincon/Carpenteria on the 101. It's noisy as heck. It also runs on the beach side of the freeway for south bound traffic. The path is due to replaced by a much better one in the coming years.

Yep, basically it's the shoulder of the hwy in both directions. It's well marked, just use the on-ramp at Bates Rd to go southbound. The northbound bike lane just merges with the highway shoulder at the north end of Rincon Rd.

Thanks guys, good to know. Yup, surprised me when I saw the bike lane there. Traffic flying by, man, kind of sketchy, but I bet a different perspective once you're actually on it. I think I will put it on the to do list.

I ride it all the time. Very wide bike lane on the freeway. Feel very safe.

Oh, yeah...that's the one. This dude used to post some great videos on here...not to derail, but he was banned? Seemed like an alright guy, hopefully, things will get worked out with the forum and him. By the way, saw a rider with one of those jerseys on Cabrillo on my vacation, he was moving!
