Snagged a sweet RB-1!

Not joining this cult though! Leaving that to dashuaigeh. I feel like I have to stick to my Centurion roots…for now.

It's a LOVELY purple/white 1990 Bridgestone RB-1. Picked it up yesterday morning off CL. Seller said to make an offer to take it home, so I offered a decent $130 on a single blurry photo, 10 minutes after the listing went up the night before. They countered and I accepted the $140 offer without really knowing the condition at all!

I was worried that someone was going to outbid me because you know....$140 is easily beatable for an RB-1. How did I get it in the end? The guy's wife was telling me "all these people kept asking me questions like doesithavethisthat howisthis and I'm like I don't know! I just want it out of the house! You're the only one that offered without any questions." I love wives.

It's a 53cm, so a bit small for me. Selling it to dashuaigeh with a pretty decent friend discount. I know I could probably get a lot more, but I was looking to turn it around fast and I'm glad to know it's going to someone that will appreciate and ride it the way it should! Plus, it fits him perfectly and he's not asking me to do any of the tune-up work

Other than a small scratch on the left chainstay and tiny chip on the toptube, the frame is just about flawless. ALL original components as well it seems. Seller was the original owner and didn't ride it for the last 5 years since they moved from Colorado to Austin.

I'll get around to taking some pictures later in the evening and posting them tonight. It's currently 102 degrees outside…

In the meantime, attached is an RB-1 from the Bridgestone catalog, courtesy of Sheldon.

Only three blemishes I could really find:

Bummer. I emailed this person and I am from Washington. I am getting pretty desparate to pick one up...

Glad you got it though! If you snag another one, let me know!

Many thanks I am stuck in New Mexico at the moment on a single speed, and the hills have been BRUTAL (as if it wasn't enough acclimating to 7800 ft elevation from sea level!)

I really want an RB1 but am afraid because it would be my daily commuter here in NYC. Even if I NYC Kryptonite lock it people would try to steal it here.

Jim, I will probably not be able to use many of the original components (for example, I think I'm gonna have to compact gear it or suffer knee injuries on these hills). If you ever need them, PM me and I'd be happy to trade 'em out.

You are a fine man to offer it to your friend, and also a fine example of a Centurionado, maybe even a Centurionissimo.

I don't care if dashuaigeh really intends to put knobbies on it, that's a fine bike.
