White cycling shoes has ruined the "look" of cycling.
A Cat 1 cyclist told me once, "To be pro, you gotta look pro."
But the white shoe thing has turned me off to the new look of cycling. I kinda got used to the non-black shorts(but please dont wear white shorts). And the helmets, well they arent to bad, except for those honeycomb turban monstrosities. I guess if you want to look like an alien bug the current fashion is for you.
I mean this guy looks classy.

even as a new cyclists I roll with black shoes, black shorts, black (ok, carbon fiber look) helmet... I have no need for the flashy weird colors and crap... though admittedly, as I start venturing out on some more roads with heavier traffic I think I might get an orange/yellow/neon jersey for visibility

Good thing Hasselblad embraced digital tech. To the rest of you Luddites, the 70's called and they want their sideburns back.

Wear what you want. Those that are worried about what others are wearing have a problem.
I want shorts with a lime green stripe below the waist in the back for visibility. They are hard to find.

Deal me in man, I'm already there. Still wearing jean shorts and a tie die tshirt. But I am not without compromise wearing my "honeycomb turban" Trek Sonic helmet.
White shoes? Pat Boone on bicycles?

I am for functionality over fashion. As far as I'm concerned black shoes will get hotter and as such (I am a person who over heats easily) white shoes are perfect. I care not if they get scuffed or not. Although on the fashion note I just can't help but HATE silver shoes. But to each his own.
